In Hollywood, fame can be found on every corner and behind any door. You just have to know where to look for it. Nineteen-year-old Madison Parker made a name for herself as best frenemy of nice-girl-next-door Jane Roberts on the hot reality show L.A. Candy. Now Madison's ready for her turn in the spotlight and she'll stop at nothing to get it. Sure, she's the star of a new show, but with backstabbing friends and suspicious family members trying to bring her down, Madison has her work cut out for her. Plus, there's a new nice girl in "reality" town—aspiring actress Carmen Price, the daughter of Hollywood royalty—and she's a lot more experienced at playing the fame game... When the camera's start rolling, whose star will shine brighter?
Review: A few years ago I read Lauren Conrad's series L.A. Candy and absolutely loved it, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to revisit the characters when I saw her entire trilogy available at my library. If you were a fan of the reality TV show The Hills, then you need to read these books! I love that they are written in the perspective of the girls being filmed. You get a complete behind the scenes look at reality TV, and how it really isn't reality. Editing and cutting changes everything. These books definitely did not disappoint. They are a little more on the "light" and thoughtless category, but I love these kind of books. I read the entire series in a few days and could seriously not put them down. There were quite a few predictable things, and I didn't like how some characters developed (I'm looking at you Kate), but everything tied together nicely without feeling rushed or forced. I also loved that I got to see Madison in a different light. I always love characters that come across as jerks, when in reality they are deeply flawed and conflicted.
