Watch the video below to see what products I've been reaching for this month.

What products have you been loving this month?

If you follow me on Instagram, then you already know that Calvin started taking his first steps a couple weeks ago. Well ladies and gentlemen, he is now walking everywhere. His balance is still a little off so he falls now and again, but for the most part when he is moving, he's walking. I seriously can't believe how much he has grown and changed in just a few short months. When I look at him I no longer see a baby, but a toddler who is determined as ever.

Our days consists of playing on the floor, eating and snacking, reading books, walks and dancing to music. Time with him just gets better and better.

Over the past few months I've picked up some products from the drugstore, so I thought I would combine them all into one haul video for you guys!

hat: target, top: hm, skirt: old navy, sandals: old navy

I've never been the type of person that enjoys talking to strangers. I would much rather keep to myself and go about my day. Then I became a mom. I love that there is an unofficial sisterhood that you enter once you become a mom. Ever since Calvin was born I found it so much easier to talk to strangers and carry on a conversation without feeling the need to run and hide. It all boils down to the fact that every mom loves talking about their child. It's normal. So when someone shows an interest in Calvin, I don't feel uncomfortable in anyway.

The reason I bring this all up is that I had the best experience last week. I decided to head downtown for the afternoon with Calvin, and since I don't have my full license yet, I took the bus. After we walked around the mall for a couple hours and picked up a couple things we headed back home. When I got on the bus there was another mom who was about my age with her toddler. From the moment I got on the bus, to the moment I got off we talked non stop!!! And this wasn't a "2 stop" bus ride. We were on the bus for about 20 minutes and yet we just talked about our kids the whole way. I felt like I was talking to a friend I've known for a while, and I loved hearing her experiences with her son Marcus.

I love how being a mom has allowed to me create connections with people. Even if it is with people I will never get the chance to see again.

On another note, I've decided to do outfit/style posts once a week. I've always dipped my feet into fashion blogging, but I've been wanting to give it more of an effort recently :)

I wanted to do something a little different on my channel today, so I thought I would participate in the get to know me tag created by Alex Good. Hopefully you'll learn a little bit more about me :) I want to tag 3 specific ladies to take part in the questions, but if you want to make one yourself, you're more than welcome to. The more the merrier :)

I tag: Making Up Ashlee, Jane from My World in Chroma and Sarah McCammon from Wearing it on my Sleeves.

Self-proclaimed fat girl Willowdean Dickson (dubbed "Dumplin'" by her former beauty queen mom) has always been at home in her own skin. Her thoughts on having the ultimate bikini body? Put a bikini on your body. With her all-American beauty best friend, Ellen, by her side, things have always worked... until Will takes a job at Harpy's, the local fast-food joint. There she meets Private School Bo, a hot former jock. Will isn't surprised to find herself attracted to Bo. But she is surprised when he seems to like her back. Instead of finding new heights of self-assurance in her relationship with Bo, Will starts to doubt herself. So she sets out to take back her confidence by doing the most horrifying thing she can imagine: entering the Miss Clover City beauty pageant -- along with several other unlikely candidates -- to show the world that she deserves to be up there as much as any twiggy girl does. Along the way, she'll shock the hell out of Clover City -- and maybe herself most of all.

This book is seriously amazing!!! Willowdean is such an inspiration and is SO relatable! There were so many moments in this book where I understood exactly what she was going through and how she was feeling! I love how she is totally unashamed with her body, but has days where she feels self conscious. I wouldn't consider what I am about to say as a "spoiler" just because it's pretty obvious that Bo is the main guy in the novel, but I wanted to talk a little about Mitch. I seriously LOVE Mitch!!! I was totally in his corner the whole novel, but I knew that she was inevitably going to end up with Bo. It's not that I don't like Bo, I think he is a great character, I just really hated how he handled certain situations. Although the red sucker thing was pretty darn cute. I could go on and on and on about this book, but I won't. Just do yourself a favour and pick it up!

Favourite Quotes:
"Perfection is nothing more than a phantom shadow we're all chasing."
"There's something about swimsuits that make you think you've got to earn the right to wear them. Really the criteria is simple. Do you have a body? Put a swimsuit on it."

Time again for another empties video. I seriously didn't think this video would be so soon after my previous empties video, but I guess I went through some products faster than I anticipated. Let me know in the comments what other types of videos you want to see :)

A few days ago Alex and I decided we needed to do more family outings. Calvin absolutely loves being outdoors so we thought it would be fun to explore our city. There are so many places in Ottawa that I've taken for granted and want to experience together as a family.

Yesterday we went up to Gatineau park and minus the mini panic attack I experienced, it was a great evening. Going on walks is something that has always been special to Alex and I. When we were dating we would spend hours walking and talking. It was time that I always treasured. I'm so glad that it is something that Calvin really enjoys too. Being together outside in nature makes us all happier.

Is it bad for me to admit that I've pretty much been wearing this shirt everyday.. and I may or may not have picked it up at the thrift store for $2. I can't seem to get enough of throwing a tee shirt and jeans on. I feel that over the past couple of months my style has shifted to a simpler place. I've been gravitating more towards pieces I can easily move in and that are not too "faddish".

I've also noticed that over the past couple years I have become a major hat person. I seriously don't leave the house without wearing one my many hats. I find it gives my outfits the perfect finishing touch, without making me look too overdone.

Can I just take a moment and talk about how beautiful the weather in Ottawa has been recently. Granted it's still pretty hot, but because we haven't got a lot of humidity yet we are still able to go on family walks without feeling like we are melting away. I wish the weather could stay like this all summer long. Unfortunately I know it won't happen, but you can't blame a girl for dreaming.

There is nothing sweeter than having 2 different people surprise you with fresh peonies 2 days in a row. I seriously love our neighbourhood and I love our ward. It's always nice to know you are being thought of, and that Heavenly Father is looking out for me and knows when I need a little pick me up.

On another note I wanted to apologize for the lack of posts the past couple of weeks. Alex's parents were in town and I prefer to take a break from blogging and editing so I can focus my time on visiting with them. I also had a couple of photography sessions so things got a little crazy! Next week I'll be uploading some videos as well as posting regularly :)

Yesterday I was going through my old burnt CDs from elementary/high school and I stumbled across one of my favourite songs when I was 13. As I was singing and dancing with Calvin I couldn't help but smile. The lyrics are so simple (and a little ridiculous), but I love the message they convey. There are so many things that I can't control so why should I let them bother me? I've decided to try my best at focusing on what I can control: my attitude. I would rather be someone who reacts with a smile, than who wastes energy on being frustrated and miserable.

It's so easy to mope around a feel sorry for myself, when I really have nothing to be sad about. I have everything I've ever wanted: a family who loves me, and a place to call home. So I'm not going to sit around and fester while I let a little bump in the road turn into an unnecessary mountain. I have the greatest support system around and I am so grateful for that.

Life gets sticky, life can bruise
Sometimes you win sometimes your losing
No matter what it brings
Don't worry 'bout a thing

Things that happened at Alex's convocation:
+ Daniel Alfredsson was an honourary gradute so he gave a speech
+ Since our last name starts with a "B" Alex got his certificate right away
+ Calvin was super entertained by all the clapping and would join in after a name was read

I still can't believe that Alex is done school! I couldn't be prouder of this husband of mine! He never does anything half way and he has worked is butt off the past 4 years, while still providing for me and Calvin. We are too lucky to have him in!

Lately I have been trying my hand at improving my braiding game. Chunky, messy braids are all the rage right now and I've been wanting to get better for a while. I've been watching a bunch of Twist Me Pretty, Barefoot Blonde, and Luxy hair tutorials on Youtube, and felt inspired to create my own look.

This braid is super quick and easy, yet when you're done it looks thick and chunky! Watch the link below for a quick little tutorial :)

There's a big gap between where 18-year-old Reena Montero expected to be and where she is. Instead of studying journalism at Northwestern after graduating from high school a year early, she's living with her parents in hot, sticky Florida, taking courses at the local community college and caring for her toddler, Hannah. It's not what Reena planned, but she's making the best of it. Then her one love-Hannah's father, Sawyer LeGrande-comes back to town. In a confident debut, Cotugno structures Reena's story in alternating "before" and "after" chapters that explain how Reena and Sawyer got together, what brought them to where they are now, and where they could end up, maybe, if they can push through a tangle of guilt, anger, and complicated family connections. Cotugno draws even the minor characters well, and although Sawyer, as a reformed bad boy, is something of a stock figure, Reena is complex and appealing. It's impossible not to root for the two of them to beat the odds.

I seriously love this book! From the moment I started reading, I was hooked! I read a few reviews on this book and a lot of people didn't like that the chapters kept switching between before and after Reena's pregnancy. For me personally I loved it! It made me keep reading because every chapter would end and I would want to know what would happen next, but in order to know I had to read 2 chapters. I didn't really like who Reena was when she was around Sawyer, and I wish she was smarter. Stupid boys make smart girls do stupid things I guess. All in all loved this book!

A little over month ago I wanted to make a stronger effort to get back into shape and tone my body. I used to work out periodically, but I didn't really have a distinct "routine". I would do a quick Youtube workout here and there, but I didn't really feel committed to challenge and push myself. At the end of April I was visiting one of my favourite workout sites (Blogilates) and I noticed that she had a beginners workout calendar.

Since having Calvin my abs were pretty much destroyed and I haven't been nearly as strong as I used to be. So one of my hesitations with following a workout calendar is that the moves aren't basic enough for me. I literally have had to go back to square one, and that is why I fell in love with this workout schedule! Now although this is a beginners workout calendar, the workouts are still pretty intense and challenging which I love!!
Woking out has become my "me time". Surprisingly my favourite time of day to workout is as soon as Calvin goes to bed. I've found that I'm more likely to stick to it when I do it at night since I don't always have the time in the morning. I've much preferred doing it at night because it gives me a chance to unwind. I used to be the kind of person who dreaded working out. I would feel worse about myself whenever worked out, but now I love it!

Over the past few short weeks I have felt my body get stronger, and most importantly feel like myself again. I feel like I have talked about this on my blog SO much, but I really struggled with my post part body. It was so weird to see myself in pictures and not recognize myself. I was loving everything about my life, and I genuinely was happy, I just hated the way I looked. Now after faithfully following this calendar I can finally say that I love how I feel. I've decided to not weigh myself, but base my improvement on my strength, and how my clothes fit. When I focus on numbers I get too caught up in unnecessary pressure and forget about the true reason why I am doing this: to feel good.

There is no greater feeling than rediscovering your confidence when you've been without it for so long!

For about a week now, Ottawa has been getting pretty hot and humid. There is nothing I hate more than having too many products on my face during the summer months. So with that in mind I thought I would share with you all the makeup look I wear when it is too hot to wear a full face of makeup. This looks is super simple and takes me about 5-10 minutes to do. Hope you enjoy it!

I don't think I have been more excited about summer than I am for summer 2016! With Alex being officially done school and graduated, we wanted to plan a special vacation that wasn't our usual trip to Maine. Don't get me wrong, we still love Maine, and will try and go this year if work is good, but our big vacation this year is a trip to Chicago! I've always wanted to visit Chicago, and since it was Alex's favourite city he's lived in, we thought it would be fun to spend a few days there.

It has been so much fun planning out the places we want to see and things we want to do. I think what I am most excited about is having Alex show me around. When we first starting dating almost 4 years ago (what???!), most of our dates would be me showing Alex my favourite places in Ottawa and seeing the city through my eyes. I can not wait to let Alex show me around and see places that hold a special place in his heart. He has talked so much about Chicago since we've met, and we've planned on going back for so long now. I can't believe it is finally happening!
We have so many fun things lined up while we're there. We're going to the zoo, aquarium, museum, Alex's old neighbourhood, eating deep dish pizza, and of course a trip to Chicago wouldn't be complete without seeing the Cubs play at Wrigley Field. I swear the music of Rookie of the Year is going to be playing in my head the whole time (shout out to any 90s kid who know what I'm talking about!).

I'm pretty much counting down the days, and already planning what to pack. It is going to be such a blast and I can not wait to make memories that we will treasure forever
