This year I really wanted to make an extra effort on staying organized. From cleaning, to eating and blogging, I wanted to stay on top of things and not be stuck trying to figure things out last minute. So I obviously turned to Pinterest for some planners and calendars. I found some simple (and free) ones from the Day Designer that I have become obsessed with! They literally have made all the difference in helping me stay organized.
Here are a few tips that have helped me stay organized with my blog:

1// Plan it out. For me this step takes the most time. I like to take time and brainstorm different ideas for posts. I like to look on Pinterest for inspiration, as well as thinking of things that I enjoy. Then I think of what pictures/graphics I want to incorporate into the post. I like to have a lot of my posts ready to go a few days before I publish them. This way I can take my time in the editing process, and the post can be live first thing in the morning.

2// Schedule.  Once I have all my blog ideas figured out for the month, I schedule when I'm going to post them. This gives me the opportunity to make sure I have a good mixture of content. This year I wanted to focus on consistency, so in February I decided to give myself a weekly blogging schedule where I post 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). Those 3 posts are my main content, but if I am ever in the mood to vent my thoughts I still have the liberty to write any other day of the week. Having that set schedule gives me reassurance that I will content for people to read.

3// Write it down. Making lists and keeping things visible is a big big help for me! I like to have my blog calendar on the fridge so I can see what posts are coming up, what I need to still work on and what weeks I need to prepare for. I feel so much more productive when I see a full calendar of things I am prepared for.

I'm that kind of person that is constantly changing my laptop background. There's just something nice about opening your laptop to something that inspires and motivates you.

Below I have 3 laptop backgrounds that inspire me  and hopefully will inspire you. Simply click on the image then save the copy that opens.
If you haven't noticed already, I really want to work on my typography and design skills this year, so I have been creating printables and downloads to help me practice! Be prepared for more in the near future!!

I hope you all have a fabulous Monday!!!

I've mentioned this many times on my blog, but here I go again. I've had a real struggle getting used to my body since Calvin's been born. I gained the majority of the weight in my last trimester, and none of it was water weight which was extremely discouraging. When I was pregnant, I was convinced that once Calvin was born I would loose at least 20, and then loose the other 20-30 pounds in 6 months. And then reality gave me huge a slap in the face.

Nothing went according to plan. I kept looking at pictures of me pre-pregnancy self and thinking of the size I used to be. When I went shopping I would take items to try on that looked like they would swarm me. But once I would get into the fitting room, I would soon realize I was used to dressing the body I had before. I hated shopping and only became comfortable shopping at Old Navy because I knew what styles and fits worked best for me there. Everywhere else was literally a nightmare experience. Back in December I decided to make a change in my diet and exercise routine and I lost quite a bit of weight. Then Christmas came, and I said bye-bye to my progress. Calvin's first birthday is quickly approaching and in January I began to feel very discouraged that I had made very little progress (if any) since his birth.

Then about a week ago I came across The Small Seed's choosing to love myself challenge, and although I admit I haven't participated every single day, I have noticed a change. I want to focus less on setting goals that have to do with numbers, and more on how I feel and improving my thoughts. Instead of looking forward to what my body could look like, I want to love my body now. I know it's far from where I wish it was, but at the end of the day does that really matter? So what if I don't get back to my original weight. I am choosing to be happy now, and it's a choice I will continue to make.

I've slowly been changing the photos on our photo wall just to give it a new look. I wanted to create a quote that was minimalistic that could be a reminder of how we should act. So I decided to make the 6 B's that President Gordon B Hinckley gave to us when I was in primary. I didn't intend on posting it on my blog, but then I thought why not! Just click the image below and then save it :)

I've been thinking a lot lately about the word "strength". I think we are all guilty of associating strength with confidence, having everything figured out, or facing challenges with an attitude of determination, when it reality it's none of those things. Strength is one of those things that means something different for everyone. For me strength is acknowledging that I have weaknesses and that I am going to make mistakes, but that through faith I can become the person I am meant to be. Here are a few things in which I find strength.

I find strength in crying.  Crying is usually seen as being weak and vulnerable, but to me it is the exact opposite. Letting our guard down and admitting that we are not always going to be happy can give us so much more strength. We can't expect to go through this life smiling and laughing at every single thing that comes our way. There are challenges, heartbreak, death, and countless other things that will happen to us. It's ok to take a moment and cry. As long as we pick ourselves back up and continue to perservere, we will be stronger. One of my favourite scriptures is John 11:35: "Jesus wept." This verse takes place just after Lazarus's death, when Mary and Martha come to Christ crying and telling the Him that if He was there, then their brother would not be dead. I love that He didn't say: "You realize I have power to raise your brother from the dead right?", instead he cried over the loss of his dear friend, and the pain Mary and Martha were feeling. If the Saviour who was completely perfect and all-powerful cried and mourned with his friends, then it is ok if I do too.

I find strength in knowing who I am. It's so easy to loose sight of your identity in today's world. Especially with social media, we can become distracted too quickly and start comparing ourselves to others. I'm not defined by what products I own, what size clothing I wear, or how many followers I have, I'm so much more than that. I am a wife, a friend, an aunt, a sister, a mother, but most importantly I am a daughter. Not just a daughter to my mom and dad, but I am an individual who lived before I was born. I have Heavenly parents who love me and want me to succeed. God is always there. No matter how small or insignificant something may be in the grand scheme of things, if it is important to me, then it is important to Him. I am so grateful that I was raised in the gospel. When I was in Young Women's, every single Sunday we would recite the Young Women's theme which began with this statement: "We are daughters of our Heavenly Father, who loves us and we love Him." Knowing that simple truth has made all the difference in my life. I can face any trial with faith and strength that I can do anything simply because I am His.

I find strength in my Saviour.  Because of what the Saviour has done for me, there is nothing I can not overcome. The more I learn about Him, the more I realize that I will never fully understand His atonement in this life. There is no limit to the reach of His atonement. It doesn't just cover our sins but it can also help us improve, comfort us in times of doubt, sickness or pain. He makes up for all that I lack. So during the times where I feel weak and uncertain, I can be strong with Christ.

I absolutely love this t-shirt from She Is Clothing because it is a visual reminder that we are all strong. Wearing this shirt and reading what it says when I walk by a mirror helps me remember that I am stronger than anything that comes my way.

For the past couple of weeks I've shared my top picks for toddler boys and women, so I thought I would share some of my favourite items in the mens department. Right now almost everything is on sale at Old Navy, and you get an additional 15% off online with no exceptions.

I can't believe my Valentine's Makeup series has come to an end! I have had so much fun experimenting and creating these different looks. For my final look I wanted to do something a bit more dramatic and dark.
Covergirl eyeshadow Quad in Notice Me Nudes: This palette is so versatile. You can use to create so many different looks. You can keep it simple, or use the darker shades to make things a little more intense.

Rimmel Kohl Eyeliner in black: I don't use  liner often (unless it's liquid), but when I do I use this one. It can smudge and transfer a little bit, but it's great to use to tight line as well as applying to the waterline.

Maybelline Falsies Push Up mascara in blackest black: I'm not the biggest fan of this mascara. It's too clumpy for my liking, but if you pair it with a smokey eye it's not as noticeable.

Revlon Cream blush in Berry Flirtatious: I've had this blush for forever, and it's my favourite cream based product. It blends absolutely beautifully and gives off a very nice amount of colour. I don't believe they sell this particular colour anymore, but Revlon cream blushes are the best!

Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in 108: Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks are seriously the best! You barley feel them on the lips and they come in so many different colours. I really love this shade because it's a "your lips but better" colour.
I'm thinking of possibly making a permanent makeup look series on my blog. Let me know if that is something that would interest you!

Just over a couple weeks ago I got a new phone. I've gone back and forth between Apple and Android with my phones so I decided this time to get an LG G3. As most people know about me, I am a super picky person when it comes to phone cases. I don't like them being too bulky, and I prefer them to be a hard case as opposed to silicone. Most phone cases that I like can only be made for iPhones, or are way too expensive (I'm talking about you Casetify). So I searched and searched, and I finally found a case that hit everything I was looking for.
I am so beyond impressed with my phone case from Cases by Lorraine. It was such a steal and is really good quality for the price. All her cases can be made for practically every phone, and since she sells through many forums, there are lots of styles to choose from. I ordered mine through Amazon, but you can also find them on her own website, along with her Etsy page. If you are looking for a phone case, I highly recommend taking a peek!

Lately I've really been drawn to simplicity in style. Patterns and colours that are classic and neutral. Like I've mentioned before Old Navy is full of great styles right now. Everything is just beautiful, and pretty much always on sale. Be sure to take a peek for yourself!

For this week's makeup look I wanted to do something that was out my comfort zone, something I wouldn't normally wear. So I went with a purple smokey eyeshadow with mascara on my bottom lashes.

L'Oreal La Palette in Nude 2: I love love love this palette! I'm usually one to wear more neutral colours, but I love that this palette has a few rosier and purple shadows. They also blend beautifully.

Maybelline Great Lash Real Impact mascara: I'm really not a fan of this mascara when it comes to using it for my upper lashes, but since it's a dryer formula it works perfect for my lower lashes. Applies a nice thin coat which doesn't smudge during the day.

L'Oreal True Match Lumi highlighter:  This highlighter is a tad glittery, but I love the glow it gives.

Rimmel Lasting Finish blush in Pink Rose:  This blush is super pretty! I find that some pink blushes can be a little too pigmented, but this one just has enough pigment to add some colour to your cheeks.

Revlon Balm stain in honey: If you're looking for a great every day lip colour then this one is perfect. I absolutely love this lip stain. It starts off with a glossy finish but throughout the day it fades and leaves a really nice deep pink stain on the lips.
I hope you all have a great Friday! Don't forget to come back next week for my last Valentines makeup look.

I don't want happened this year, but I am just really in the Valentines mood, which never happens! So last night I made a quick little Valentines themed Laptop background.

Age: 10 months. I seriously can not believe he is going to be a year in a couple months! Where has the time gone??!!

Clothing: 12-18 months

Teeth: 2 bottom, and 1 top

Baby Development: (1) I know I said this last month, but crawling is so, so, so close! He can move backwards super well, and is able to get onto his knees really well. (2) We no longer use his bath support so he now just sits in the tub and plays with his bath toys. He loves to splash and kick his legs  and since the bath is so slippery he's able to move around and spin. It's super entertaining. (3) He sometimes claps when we say "yay". But only sometimes. He also shakes his head when we say "shake, shake, shake".

Likes: (1) Sweet potatoes (2) He loves when we change the lyrics from "Baby Beluga" to "Calvin Baronins". He dances and laughs every time we sing. He also likes "Do you know the muffin man" and "Row, row, row your boat". (3) My parents got him some Ikea wooden building blocks and he can not get enough of them! Everyday, all day he sits on the floor bitting and playing with them. He loves destroying towers that I make, and stealing the blocks that I am playing with. Apparently the blocks I play with are so much more fun, than the ones he already has ;)

Other: The past couple of days I've been planning his birthday theme, decorations and activities. I'm getting really excited, but also a little sad since he is growing SO fast!!

Can I just say that Old Navy has been killing it recently! Seriously everything in the store is completely spot on! Right now they have a crazy amazing sale for their kid, toddler and baby section. Everything is 40% off, and by everything they mean everything! The sale ends on Wednesday, so run don't walk people! Calvin is still growing pretty fast so we needed to stock up on some 18-24 month clothing. Luckily they just released their spring line so I was able to pick up some pieces that will be able to transition into summer too. Buying bright colours and tees has got me pinning for spring!
