So I thought we had such an awesome original Halloween costume this year. Turns out every single family on Instagram had the same idea we did ;) Ah well, c'est la vie. Calvin was a little weirded out by our masks, couldn't recognize us we were disguised so well! I must admit I would risk going to jail in order to steal this cute loot.
Happy Halloween everyone!!!

It's that time of the month again where I participate in Brooke's How We Wore It series. This month we were given the following photo as an inspiration.
The first thing that came to my mind when I saw this picture was "Monochromatic" which got me super excited since my entire wardrobe consists of black and white items. It's getting quite cold over here so I've been really loving cardigans and layering pieces to warm me up :)
(I thought it was appropriate to include Samwise to my outfit since he matched so perfectly.)
I had been planning on taking my pictures early this month, but life got a bit hectic, and I got a bit forgetful so I apologize for the "last minute, terrible lighting" pictures. It was non stop raining today so there was no chance we were going outside to take pictures. If you want to join in on this fun collaboration, be sure to visit Brooke's blog to sign up. Do it quick since she takes the first 25 bloggers who sign up :)

I'm trying my hardest not cry as I look through photos of Calvin when he was just a few days old. I can't believe how much he's grown, how much I've grown. Only a few short months ago he came into our lives, and he has changed it forever. For the first few weeks I was so clueless. I had no idea what I was doing, but I soldiered on. Bear with me as I voice something I've learned over the past couple weeks. I may not be the "model" mom, but when it comes to being Calvin's mother, I'm quite the expert. I still can't believe how smooth the transition into motherhood was for me. When I was pregnant I was absolutely terrified, especially since I had no idea what I was getting into. Luckily I have a son who completely understands me, and in return I completely understand.
Now with all that being said I am nowhere near "the perfect mom". But the thing is none of us are. The whole point of being on this earth is so we can grow and become more like our Heavenly Father. Just like everyone else, I have completely changed as a person over the past few years. But I must say that I have never felt so much growth than I have over these past (short) 6 months. It's incredible how such a small little person can change your priorities, and make you love in a way you never thought was possible. A person that has deepened my love for my mom, for my spouse, and most importantly for my Heavenly Father.

There are days when I forget that this family is actually my family. I can not express how blessed I am to have an incredible husband by my side and sweetest baby to call son. Some days can be a pain, some days can be long, but most days are the greatest, most fulfilling days. This past weekend we were able to watch General Conference as a family, and there is one quote in particular that I have seen over and over again on social media that really hits me every time I read it.
"No love in mortality comes closer to approximating the pure love of Jesus Christ than the selfless love  a devoted mother has for her child." - Elder Jeffrey R Holland
Every single word that came from Elder Holland's talk struck me deep to the core. His message was uplifting and encouraging. Instead of judging my capability as a mother, I find myself being a little kinder to myself.

With all that being said, the past couple days have been a little rough with both Calvin and I battling a cold. There has been very little sleep which make the days very long. It's been a PJs, no makeup, greasy hair in a bun kind of days. I hate how sometimes I loose my patience on things that aren't even that demanding. Little by little I'm working on becoming more loving and not setting expectations for myself. At first the "selfless" part of motherhood was a hard thing for me to acquire. But over the past few months I've slowly been able to put away my wants for Calvin's needs.

I just want to love him and savour this time in his life as much as I can.

I have always been a fan of favourites videos so I am super excited to be sharing with you all my favourites from the month of September.
Don't forget to comment with video suggestions down below! :)

 Age: 6 months!!

Weight: We'll know this week when we go for his doctor's appointment. My guess is 20 pounds.

Sleeping: About 2 weeks ago he started getting in the habit of waking up in between 5-6:30 am to feed. No matter what time we put him to bed he always wake up at that time. He goes right back to sleep for another couple hours, so we aren't suffering from it which is nice.

Baby Development: He finally rolled over on Friday October 2nd. Seriously absolutely adorable. Teething is still going on strong, but still no teeth just yet. He can almost sit up unassisted.

Likes: (1) His excersaucer, (2) Broadway music, he's really loving The Lion King right now, (3) lounging on my nursing pillow on the couch, (4) "The Calvin Dance", there is a particular thing Alex and I do with our hands and we prance around him and he absolutely loves it, it's quite a strange little dance hence the name, (5) Looking at himself when we FaceTime Grandma and Grandpa, (6) Sammy's tail, a couple days ago Sammy was hitting Calvin in the face with his tail and Calvin was laughing uncontrollably, (7) Being lifted up in the air.

Dislikes: I'm not saying my baby is the most perfect happy baby, but he doesn't really have any dislikes. Other than gas, and teething nothing really makes him upset.

Other: Fall has always been my favourite season, and dressing him in layers is killing me. Since he is now fitting in 12 month clothing he literally looks like a little man. Melts my heart everyday. We've also just ordered his new car seat. Can't wait for him to have more space when we travel.
