Chapter 210

Day 31 - January 31, 2012

Yesterday my dad came home from work with a little surprise. A Keep Calm and Carry On journal!! I have multiple items scattered around my room that have that quote and I was pleased to add this to my collection!

I also finished read The Giver last night. What an incredible book! Andrew and Kelsi were trying to convince me to read it for months, and I finally said yes. Boy was it worth it. The writing was phenomenal, and I must say the Dystopian society was extremely dysfunctional! One particular chapter was so sad, but so perfect!! Highly recommend this to anyone who is in between books, and just wants a quick, enjoyable read. You will love it!

Today I am starting War Horse. I can not tell you how excited I am to start reading it. The movie was incredible, and I can't wait to love the story even more.

Day 29 - January 29, 2012

Day 30 - January 30, 2012

Yesterday was a good day. Sunday is always my favourite day of the week. I love church, and I was able to attend 2 sacrament meetings!! SCORE! I stayed over at Andrew and Kelsi's, and since the YSA and their ward meet in the same building, I thought I might as well hitch a ride with them to church early. It was rather entertaining being in a family ward again. There were babies EVERYWHERE! Pretty much an girls fantasy! Well let's be real, it would have been an even greater fantasy if Michael Phelps was there, but yeah know, you can't have them all!

So anyways, the talks were incredible, and I felt I was on a spiritual high of sorts. It was a great feeling. Then off to YSA ward I went. The sister missionaries spoke, along with Roberto. Oh my word I felt so inspired and just want to share the gospel with everyone. There is something very special about full-time missionaries. Every time I hear them speak I just want to do my part. SO I continued feeling uber awesome, then I started having this "icky" feeling. No not icky, maybe just a worrying feeling. I felt something was wrong. My feeling was confirmed after church, I was checking up with a friend to find out why he wasn't at church, and I heard some news that was sad. I didn't know the person, let alone their name, but because it affected someone very dear to my heart, I felt a sudden feeling of sorrow. He assured me he was fine and just thinking about the plan of salvation and how awesome it is, really hit home.

You see on Friday night, my assistant manager's husband passed away suddenly. There is nothing worse than seeing people who do not have the knowledge of the plan of salvation just shut down and be extremely heart broken. Now I am not saying that death is such a happy thing for me to deal with, it's far from it, but knowing that I am sealed to my family forever, and will only be parted from them for a blink of an eye is so comforting and I can't help being happy about it.

Over the course of yesterday, I was able to have 3 really deep conversations with 3 dear friends. I needed to hear something from every conversation and felt more and more at peace with my feelings and promptings I've been having lately. I'm grateful that I have such close friends in the church, who are going through the same experiences I am. No judging, no rolling of eyes telling them that I am back where I was in April, just helpful, loving words. Couldn't have asked for better friends.

Day 28 - January 28, 2012

Storage problems

Thursday I went to Ikea with mom and pops to buy some storage goodies! We ended buying a new bookcase for the spare room, a divider/shelf/thing to put between our sewing room and family room, a couple boxes and shelves. I finally decided it was time to get rid of my CD holder and put them in a nicer setup. So I bought these adorable little boxes!!!!!

Yay for organization!!!!!

Then last night I went to the movies again with pops. Yeah I know I hang out with my parents ALL the time! I completely admit it, I'm a nerd like that. So we saw War Horse and I have to say I was actually blown away!!! The war scenes were just absolutely incredible!!! Such a timeless story, portrayed in a beautiful way. Job well done Spielberg, job well done!

I have tried to stick to my goal of 1 book per week, this year but unfortunately I have failed. I went 2 days over my schedule with The Maze Runner. 9 days as opposed to 7, I am ashamed! The book again was extremely hard to get into to, I dreaded reading it for the first 100-150 pages. But after the first half, the book became so incredible!! I zoomed through the second half in no time! I don't know if I would suggest it though. It kind of a weird novel, and the language is really odd, and the timing is so unrealistic!! 1 day took 6 chapters, but an intense night took 3. It was weird like that, but I will definitely be reading the rest of the trilogy!!

This week I plan on reading The Giver, and War Horse, to catch up with my schedule. I should have them both done by Wednesday.

Have a wonderful weekend my dears!!

Chapter 207

This is probably going to end up being a major rambling on, but I feel I need to just get this out there, and write it down! So the past few months I have gone on a few dates, and been interested, but by the end, the boys felt we were better as friends. There were tears, a couple, but no crazy heart break. So when it happened again I was frustrated, but I wasn't hurt. The more I thought, and the more I prayed, I realized something, it didn't hurt because I was mixing up a true, deep connection with flirting and flighty feelings. I fell in love back in May, and I thought I was over this, but it turns out I'm not. I did, and still do love this boy. I was hurt, extremely hurt, but after months of being bitter, and trying to push away these feelings, I've decided it's best to just accept it.

It was weird, I just woke up one morning smiling, like CRAZY smiling, like smiling the way I did when we were dating. Just thinking about the look, the look I haven't seen him give me since April. I'm pretty sure he saw my reaction, I was pretty much dumbfounded, in a good way. Now, I am not getting my hopes up, all I know is he is meant to be in my life. Whether it be just friends or more, I am willing to bridge the horrific gap between us. I am done being bitter, I am done being rude, I am done ignoring him, and I am done ignoring these feelings.  I know this sounds super cheesy, and super typical but I feel that I was better when I was with him. A better person, a better friend, a better me. And I was lost for a few months, but I am ready to be better again, not necessarily for him, but for me. In some way or another his role in my life is not over, I'm not sure what role he will have to play, but I know I need to at least give him the chance.

Songs have the biggest impact on my life, so when I heard this song, after not hearing it for a long time, I was just speechless. I'm ready. I'm ready to accept him again.

Day 25 - January 25, 2012

Sorry for the major lack of posting the past few days. My mind has been distracted with other things, which isn't a bad thing, it's life. I have literally been an old lady the past few days. Its been extremely cold so I get home from work, change into sweats, a sweater, fuzzy socks and slippers, then either grab a book or my crochet project, make a Caf-lib and sit in my living room! Although last night I actually did something. Since it is just me, mom and pops that live at home my dad is out numbered by women, a situation he has never experienced before in his life. And although I am about as girly as it gets, there a certain things that keep my in touch with my masculine side. I burp, and by burp I am mean BURP! I love me some NCAA March Madness basketball. And I love, love, love action movies!!! So last night dad and I went to see Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol. I must admit my thoughts going into were: "Should be fun." But I actually extremely enjoyed!! Yes, I know filled with plot holes, extremely unrealistic gadgets, and over the top cheesy acting by Tom Cruise, but then again that's what makes these movies so awesome! Highly enjoyable film, and I preferred it to the last, except for the fact that Philip Seymour Hoffman plays a way more awesome bad guy than Michael Nyqvist. And of course Simon Pegg was the perfect comic relief, as always!!

This is random, I know, but can all Mean Girls fans die with me??!!!! I laughed sooooo hard when I saw this!!!!! Too good!!

So the plan for tonight? Heading off to institute, then I am planning on slaughtering like crazy at Laser Quest with some YSA. Hope you all have a great night!!

Chapter 203

Meet the Family!!

When everyone was together during Christmas, my mom really wanted to get some updated  family pictures taken. The last time we had them done, I was in grade 10, and both Alicia and Kelsi were not part of our family. So there they are, the family pictures that were absolutely hilarious to get!

Mom and Dad (aka roommates)

Adam and Alicia

This picture pretty much describes them..LOVE it!

Andrew, Kelsi and Baby W

Anyone notice how much Kelsi looks like a baby bird waiting to be fed? Well I did.

And then little old me, flying solo!

Well that's the family! They're the best and I love them dearly!

Chapter 202

Day 15 - January 15, 2012

Day 16 - January 16, 2012

Dear Little Friend

Day 17 - January 17, 2012

I decided that I am going to crochet a huge, chunky scarf to help me get through the winter. And yes, technically I don't NEED another scarf, but I want one!! One of my goals for this year is to make things instead of purchasing. I am half way through sewing a blouse, and just started the scarf tonight. This project I plan on actually finishing!! See the thing is I started knitting a scarf over 4 yrs ago.. and I am not even half done. But crocheting is faster, so fingers crossed I don't get bored or frustrated!

One of my favourite things about the Golden Globes is looking at all the dresses and being so thrilled to spot the modest ones! I am strong believer of modesty and believe there is nothing more beautiful or classy, than a woman who covers herself. Here are my favourite dresses:

Michelle Williams

Amy Poehler and Will Arnett

Jessica Biel

On a little bit of a side note I finished reading Crossed tonight. OH MY HEAVEN IT WAS SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! I enjoyed it WAY more than the first!!!! I love how every chapter switched point of view from Ky to Cassia. It was absolute perfection! I will literally recommend the series to everyone just for this book alone! Now I have to wait another year until the third comes out.. GREAT!! I am still slightly loving Xander more than Ky, but Ky is growing on me.

Next on the list is Maze Runner. I got this book from Andrew a year or two ago, started reading it then got distracted, but I am determined to read it and enjoy it!!
